Courses offered by Datum Marine Services focus on getting our students working in the industry. We offer Transport Canada accredited courses including Marine Emergency Duties (MED A3) and the Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP). These are certificates and qualifications needed to get started in the commercial marine industry anywhere in Canada.

The marine industry across Canada involving "small" vessels is thriving and expanding all the time. There are and will continue to be many exciting opportunities for you in the industry. There are jobs in tourism, fishing, guiding, passenger and freight transportation, enforcement and many other areas which all depend on boats.

We have created manuals for you to use as references as you get started in the Transport Canada marine certificate process. They are also intended for qualified course providers to use as teaching aids for MEDA3 and SVOP courses. These manual contain material that you would otherwise have to obtain by purchasing several different publications.

Everyone who works in the "small" vessel part of Canada’s marine industry is required to hold the appropriate professional certificates. Whether a beginner, or an "old salt" we must work together with Transport Canada to achieve this standard. Together we will make our commercial power boat operations safer and more professional through education and standards of excellence.
